1Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak. And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. 2My doctrine shall drop as the rain; my speech shall drop down as the dew, as the small rain on the tender plant, and as the showers on the grass; 3because I will proclaim the name of Jehovah and ascribe greatness to our God. 4He is the Rock; His work is perfect. For all His ways are just, a God of faithfulness, and without evil; a just and upright One is He. 5They have corrupted themselves; they are not His sons; it is their blemish; they are a crooked and perverse generation. 6Do you thus give back to Jehovah, O foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father who bought you? Has not He made you and established you? 7Remember the ancient days, consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he will declare to you, your elders, and they shall say to you; 8when the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance; when He separated the sons of Adam, He set up the bounds of the peoples, according to the number of the sons of Israel. 9For Jehovah’s portion is His people; Jacob is the lot of His inheritance. 10He found him in a desert land, and in the waste, a howling wilderness. He encircled him and cared for him; He guarded him as the pupil of His eye. 11As the eagle stirs up its nest; it hovers over its young; it spreads out its wings and takes it, and bears it on its wing.  12Jehovah alone led him, and there was no strange god with him. 13He made him ride on the high places of the earth, so that he might eat the increase of the fields. And He made him suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock; 14butter from cows, and milk from the flock, with fat from lambs, and rams of the sons of Bashan, and he-goats, with the fat of the kidneys of wheat, and of the blood of the grape you shall drink wine. 15But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked; you grew fat, thick and sated. And he abandoned God who made him, and fell away from the Rock of his salvation. 16With strange gods they moved Him to jealousy; and with disgusting things they provoked Him to anger. 17They sacrificed to demons who were not God, to gods whom they did not know, new ones who came lately. Your fathers had not dreaded them. 18You forgot the Rock that brought you into being and ceased to care for God who formed you. 19And Jehovah looked and despised them because of the provocation of His sons and of His daughters. 20And He said, I will hide My face from them; I will see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, sons in whom is no faithfulness. 21They made Me jealous with a no-god; they made Me angry by their vanities; and I shall make them jealous by a no-people; by a foolish nation I shall make them angry. 22For a fire has been kindled in My anger, and it burns to the lowest Sheol, and consumes the earth and its produce; and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains. 23I will heap evils on them; I will use up My arrows on them: 24exhaustion by famine, and devoured by the flame of fire , and bitter destruction, and the teeth of beasts, with the venom of crawling things of the dust. 25The sword shall bereave from without, and terror from within, both the young man and the virgin, the suckling with the man of gray hairs. 26I said, I will dash them to pieces; I will make their memory cease from among men; 27saying, Were it not the provocation of an enemy I feared, that their foes should judge amiss, that they might not say, Our hand is high, and Jehovah has not done all this. 28For they are a nation void of counsel, and no understanding is in them. 29If they were wise they would understand this; they would consider their latter end. 30How could one chase a thousand, and two put a myriad to flight, if it were not their Rock that sold them, and Jehovah had shut them up? 31For their rock is not our Rock, even our enemies being judges. 32For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and their grapes from the fields of Gomorrah, grapes of gall; they have bitter clusters. 33Their wine is the venom of serpents, and the cruel venom of asps. 34Is it not stored up with Me, sealed in My treasuries? 35Vengeance and retribution belong to Me; in due time their foot will slip; for the day of their calamity is near, and the things prepared are hurrying for them. 36For Jehovah will bring His people justice; and He shall have compassion on His servants, for He sees that their power is gone, and only the imprisoned and abandoned remain. 37And He will say, Where are their gods, the rock in which they sought refuge? 38Who ate the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you; let it be a hiding place for you. 39See now that I, I am He, and there is no other God with Me. I kill, and I keep alive. I wound and I heal, and there is no deliverer from My hand. 40For I lift up My hand to the heavens and say, I live forever! 41If I have sharpened My glittering sword, and My hand lays hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to My adversaries, and I will repay those who hate Me. 42I will make My arrows drunk with blood, and My sword shall devour flesh, with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the hairy head of the enemy. 43Rejoice, O nations, of His people; for He shall avenge the blood of His servants, and shall render vengeance to His adversaries, and shall have mercy on His land and His people. 44And Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Joshua the son of Nun. 45And Moses finished speaking all these words to all Israel, 46and said to them, Set your heart on all the words which I have testified against you today, that you command your sons to take heed to do all the words of this Law. 47For it is not a useless Word for you, for it is your life, and by this Word you shall prolong your days in the land where you are crossing over the Jordan, there to possess it. 48And Jehovah spoke to Moses in that same day, saying, 49Go up into this Mount Abarim, to Mount Nebo in the land of Moab, which is opposite Jericho; and see the land of Canaan which I am giving to the sons of Israel for a possession; 50and die in the mountain where you are going, and be gathered to your people, even as your brother Aaron died on Mount Hor, and was gathered to his people; 51because you transgressed toward Me among the sons of Israel at the Waters of Strife in Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because you did not sanctify Me in the midst of the sons of Israel. 52Yet you shall see the land across from you, but you shall not go in there to the land which I am giving to the sons of Israel.

Versículos 1, 2. El cántico de Moisés. 3-6. El carácter de Dios-El carácter de Israel. 7-14. Las cosas grandes que Dios hizo por Israel. 15-18. La iniquidad de Israel. 19-25. Vv. 1, 2. Moisés comienza con una apelación solemne al cielo y tierra en cuanto a la verdad e importancia de lo que iba a decir. Su doctrina es el evangelio, el discurso de Dios, la doctrina de Cristo; la doctrina de la gracia y misericordia por medio de Él, y de la vida y salvación por Él.

Vv. 3-6. “¡Él es una Roca!”. Esta es la primera vez que se llama así a Dios en la Escritura. La expresión denota que el poder, la fidelidad y el amor divino, revelados en Cristo y el evangelio, forman un fundamento que no puede ser cambiado ni movido, sobre el cual podemos edificar nuestras esperanzas de felicidad. Bajo su protección podemos encontrar refugio de todos nuestros enemigos y en todos nuestros problemas; como las rocas de aquellos países escudaban contra los rayos abrasadores del sol, y de las tempestades o eran fortalezas contra el enemigo. —”Su obra es perfecta”: la de redención y salvación en que se despliega completa la perfección divina en todas sus partes. Todos los tratos de Dios con sus criaturas están regulados por una sabiduría que no puede errar y por su perfecta justicia. Ciertamente Él es justo y recto; Él cuida que nadie se pierda por Él.
Se presenta una gran acusación contra Israel. Aun los hijos de Dios tienen sus máculas mientras están en este estado imperfecto; pues si decimos que no tenemos pecado, ninguna mancha, nos engañamos a nosotros mismos. Pero el pecado de Israel no era habitual, notable e impenitente, lo cual es característico de los hijos de Satanás.
Fueron necios al abandonar sus misericordias a cambio de las vanidades mentirosas. Todos los pecadores voluntarios, especialmente los pecadores de Israel, son necios e ingratos.

Vv. 7-14. Moisés da ejemplos particulares de la bondad de Dios y su preocupación por ellos. El cuidado que el águila da a sus polluelos es un bello emblema del amor de Cristo que vino a mediar entre la justicia divina y nuestra alma culpable, y a llevar nuestros pecados en su propio cuerpo sobre el madero. Por medio de la predicación del evangelio y la influencia del Espíritu Santo, Él estimula a los pecadores y prevalece sobre ellos para que dejen la esclavitud de Satanás.
En los versículos 13 y 14 se encuentran los emblemas de la victoria que los creyentes tienen, en y por medio de Cristo, sobre sus enemigos espirituales, el pecado, Satanás y el mundo. También de la seguridad y triunfo de ellos en Él; del marco de felicidad de su alma cuando está por sobre el mundo y sus cosas. Este será el caso bendito del Israel espiritual en todo sentido en el día postrero.

Vv. 15-18. He aquí dos ejemplos de la iniquidad de Israel; cada uno fue una apostasía contra Dios.
Esta gente era llamada Jesurún, “un pueblo recto”por algunos; “un pueblo visionario”para otros; pero pronto perdieron la reputación de su saber y de su rectitud. Se dieron el gusto en cuanto a apetitos como si no tuvieran nada que hacer sino hacer provisión para la carne a fin de satisfacer sus concupiscencias. Los que se endiosan y hacen un ídolo de su estómago, con orgullo y jactancia, y no toleran que se lo digan, abandonan por ello a Dios, con lo que demuestran que le estiman a la ligera. Hay solo un camino para la aceptación y santificación del pecador, aunque sean diferentes los modos en que la falta de religión o la falsa religión le muestra consideración para atraerlo a otros caminos, actitud que a menudo, se califica mal como candidez. ¡Cuán locos están los idólatras que abandonan la Roca de salvación para correr sobre la roca de la perdición!

Vv. 19-25. La rebelión de Israel se describió en los versículos anteriores, y aquí siguen las resoluciones de la justicia divina sobre ellos. Nos engañamos si pensamos que Dios puede ser burlado por un pueblo infiel. El pecado nos hace odiosos a la vista del santo Dios. Obsérvese cuánta maldad hace el pecado, y cuéntense como necios quienes se burlan de esto.

Vv. 26-38. La idolatría y las rebeliones de Israel merecían, como lo exige la justicia de Dios, que ellos fueran desarraigados. Pero Él perdona a Israel y los deja que sigan siendo los testigos vivos de la verdad de la Biblia, para silenciar a los incrédulos. Han sido preservados para propósitos sabios y santos, y las profecías nos dan una idea de cuáles son esos propósitos. El Señor nunca traerá vergüenza sobre el trono de su gloria.
Muy sabio es, y ayudará al regreso de los pecadores a Dios, la consideración seria del final o el estado futuro de ellos. Esto se refiere particularmente a lo que Dios anunció por medio de Moisés tocante a su pueblo en los días postreros; pero puede dársele una aplicación más general. Oh, que los hombres consideraran la felicidad que perderán y la desgracia en que ciertamente se hundirán si siguen en sus transgresiones! ¿Qué será el fin de ellos? Jeremías, v, 31. Porque el Señor derrotará en su debido tiempo a los enemigos de la iglesia, desagradado por su maldad. Cuando los pecadores se consideren más seguros, vendrá sobre ellos destrucción repentina. Y el tiempo de Dios para venir a liberar a su pueblo es cuando las cosas están peores para ellos. Pero los que confían en cualquier roca que no es Dios, hallarán que les falla cuando más la necesitan.
El rechazo del Mesías por parte de la nación judía es la continuidad de su antigua idolatría, apostasía y rebelión. Serán llevados a humillarse ante el Señor, a arrepentirse de sus pecados y a confiar en su largamente rechazado Mediador para salvación. Entonces Él los librará y hará que su prosperidad sea grande.

Vv. 39-43. La conclusión del cántico dice: -1. Gloria a Dios . No puede haber escapatoria de su poder.
2. Terror a sus enemigos . Sin duda terror para aquellos que le odian. La ira de Dios se revela aquí desde el cielo contra ellos.
3. Consuelo a su pueblo . El cántico concluye con palabras de gozo. Cualesquiera sean los juicios traídos contra los pecadores, al pueblo de Dios le irá bien.

Vv. 44-47. Aquí está la solemne entrega de este cántico a Israel con el encargo de dar importancia a todas las buenas palabras que Moisés les había dicho. No es cosa trivial sino cuestión de vida o muerte: dadle importancia y estad listos para siempre; descuidadlo y estaréis deshechos para siempre. ¡Oh, que los hombres fueran plenamente persuadidos de que la religión es la vida de ellos, aun la vida de sus almas!

Vv. 48-52. Ahora Moisés había acabado su obra, ¿por qué iba a desear vivir un día más? Dios le recuerda el pecado del cual era culpable, el que le impidió entrar a Canaán. Bueno es para el mejor de los hombres morir arrepentido de los males de que esté consciente. Pero pueden morir consolados y tranquilos cuando Dios los llama, a pesar de los pecados que recuerdan contra sí mismos, porque tienen la perspectiva del creyente y la esperanza de vida eterna más allá de la muerte bien cimentada.
